After it happened she had been hiding in the Carpathian’s subsisting as best she could for two months, with the arrival of Fall Tatiana had no choice but to make her condition known.  

She had heard the war, of course, but didn’t realize how awful it was.  This town was had been shelled to oblivion with no signs of life other than the street dogs and those pesky crows.   If she offered them she’d get swarmed.  It was worse now they were closer to insect size.
